He tried to cancel the transfer, but his mouse cursor had vanished. On the screen, the progress bar finally jumped to 1%.
Elias sat in the dark, his heart hammering against his ribs. He reached for his phone to call for help, but the screen stayed dark. He felt around the desk, his hand hitting something cold and metallic.
A notification chirped from the silence. Not from a phone, but from inside his own head.
