Captain Stottlemeyer's son, Jared, has skipped school to attend the festival. Stottlemeyer, Natalie, and a very reluctant Monk head to the concert to track him down.
While searching for Jared, they discover the body of Greg "Stork" Murray , a roadie for the band Trafalgar . While police suspect a drug overdose, a fellow roadie named Kendra insists it was foul play. The Mystery
Lt. Randy Disher also "skips" work to attend the festival, hoping to get his own demo tape heard by the bands.
Monk only agreed to go because he thought a "rock show" was a geology exhibit—he even brought his own magnifying glass for what he assumed would be a day of looking at minerals.
The episode follows two main threads that collide at the "San Francisco Band Jam":
Monk eventually discovers that Stork was an aspiring songwriter who had written a hit song called "". The band's lead singer, Kris Kedder (played by Brad Hunt), stole the credit for the song. When Stork confronted him, Kedder killed him and staged the scene to look like an overdose to protect his career. Fun Facts & Highlights
