The Medford air was thick with the scent of Mary’s brisket and a tension so heavy it could have stopped a freight train. At the dinner table sat the Coopers, Meemaw, and Mandy, who looked like she’d rather be anywhere else—including a DMV waiting room. She turned to Mandy with a wink

"So, Mandy," Mary began, her voice strained with a forced politeness that only a Texas churchgoer could master. "I was reading about the importance of early spiritual development. Have you thought about which Sunday school class our future grandchild will be attending?" Turns out, he's just a tire salesman in training

"Based on the increased cortisol levels in this room and the fact that Mom hasn't mentioned 'The Lord’s Plan' once without crying," Sheldon whispered to Missy, "I’ve concluded that Georgie hasn't just made a mistake. He’s made a biological mistake."
